### What is a passkey?
Passkeys are a verification method for logging into your [Link account](https://app.link.com/login). Instead of using a one-time passcode, passkeys allow you to safely sign into Link using the same authentication method that you would use to unlock your device, such as a device PIN or a biometric identifier like Touch or Face ID.
Each passkey is tied to a specific account and platform such as the device or a key sharing mechanism like iCloud keychain.
Passkeys simplify the login process by removing the need for verification codes and remembering different passwords across multiple websites and applications. For more information, see how passkeys work with [iOS](https://support.apple.com/guide/iphone/sign-in-with-passkeys-iphf538ea8d0/16.0/ios/16.0) or [Chrome](https://support.google.com/chrome/answer/13168025?co=GENIE.Platform%3DAndroid&hl=en).
### Adding a new passkey
To add a passkey to your Link account:
1. Log in to your [Link account](https://app.link.com/login).
1. Navigate to the [**Settings**](https://app.link.com/settings) section.
1. Select **Passkeys** under **Security**.
1. Click **Add Passkey**.
1. A series of device/browser specific instructions will appear. Follow the prompts to complete the passkey setup.
You'll be able to use the **Log in using passkey** option the next time you log in to your Link account.
### I don’t recognize a passkey on my account
If you don’t recognize a passkey, review the [Activity](https://app.link.com/activity) section of your Link account to confirm your recent account activity. If you identify any past purchases that you did not make, immediately contact your bank to file a dispute.
Then follow the instructions below to [remove the passkey](#removing-saved-passkey) from your account.
### Removing a saved passkey
Removing a saved passkey only removes a passkey from your Link account. To remove the passkey from your device or browser entirely, you may need to take some additional steps. See the device/browser specific instructions like those for [Google Account](https://support.google.com/accounts/answer/13548313?hl=en) or [iPhone](https://support.apple.com/guide/iphone/use-passkeys-to-sign-in-to-websites-and-apps-iphf538ea8d0/ios).
To remove a passkey from your Link account:
1. Log in to your [Link account](https://app.link.com/login).
1. Navigate to the [Settings](https://app.link.com/settings) section.
1. Select the **Passkeys** option under **Security**.
1. Click **Remove** on the Passkey you’d like to remove.
1. Click **Remove and Log out** to confirm.
Removing a passkey will automatically log you out of Link on all devices.
### What devices support passkeys?
Not all devices and web browsers support passkeys today, and you will only see the option to add a passkey when it is supportable.
See the devices and operating systems that are currently [compatible with passkeys](https://webauthn.me/browser-support).
### Troubleshooting passkey errors
If you are experiencing issues with a passkey, see Troubleshooting passkey errors to learn more about common reasons as to why your passkey might not be working.
If an error persists, use the SMS or email verification code option to log in to your Link account.
