# UPI payments on Link

**UPI (Unified Payments Interface)** is a payment method for customers in India that lets you pay directly from your bank account using a UPI app. **Link** is Stripe's checkout network that handles the payment securely. It saves your payment details so you can check out faster.
If you're shopping on a website that uses Link and paying in Indian Rupees (INR), you may see **UPI powered by Link** as a payment option at checkout.
## What Link does and doesn't do
When you see **Powered by Link** at checkout, Stripe processes your payment through Link.
Link does not:
* Store your UPI PIN
* Bypass any UPI authentication
* Make payments without your explicit approval
## How to pay with UPI at checkout
### Desktop
* Select **UPI** as your payment method at checkout
* A QR code appears on screen
* Open your preferred UPI app (Google Pay, PhonePe, and Paytm are common options) on your phone
* Scan the QR code
* Authorize the payment with your UPI PIN or biometric
### Mobile
* Select **UPI** as your payment method at checkout
* Choose your preferred UPI app
* You'll be redirected into the app
* Authorize the payment with your UPI PIN or biometric
## Your saved UPI details
### Does Link save my UPI information?
Yes, and it works slightly differently depending on your device.
On **mobile**, Link saves your VPA (Virtual Payment Address) and preferred UPI app so future purchases are faster.
On **desktop**, your VPA is stored in your Link account, but you always need to scan a QR code to complete the payment.
You can view your saved UPI details in your Link account at any time.
### Can I save multiple UPI apps?
Yes. Link saves multiple VPAs to your account, so you can choose which one to use at checkout. Many people keep 2–3 on file.
### Can I remove my saved UPI details?
Yes. Visit your Link account settings to manage or remove saved payment methods, including UPI VPAs.
### When does Link save my VPA?
After your first UPI transaction through Link, your VPA is saved to your Link account. This applies to both desktop and mobile.
## Security and troubleshooting
### Is UPI on Link secure?
Yes. Every UPI transaction requires authentication through your UPI PIN or biometric. This step can't be skipped.
Link remembers your preferences to speed up checkout, but never at the expense of your security.
### Why was my payment declined?
Common reasons include an expired QR code, bank-side issues, UPI app errors, or transaction limits. Try again, and contact your bank if the problem continues.
### I don't recognize a charge
If you see a transaction you don't recognize:
* Check your UPI app's transaction history
* Review the merchant name on the charge
* Contact the merchant directly for order-related questions
* If you believe the charge is unauthorized, contact Link support.
### Why do I see **Powered by Link** at checkout?
The merchant uses Stripe for payments. Link provides UPI as a payment option, and Stripe processes it securely.
