# Verifying your bank account

### Why am I being asked to verify my bank account?
If you’ve previously saved your bank account with Link without having completed the authentication process, you may be asked to verify your bank account in order to use it on Link-enabled businesses. If a bank account requires verification, you will see a **Verify** badge next to it under the [Wallets](https://app.link.com/wallet) section on your Link account or a **Verification required** text as you're checking out with a business using saved payment methods with Link.
### **How do I verify my bank account?**
**When making a purchase**
During your checkout with the business, you may be prompted to go through the bank account authentication flow. Follow the on-screen steps here to enter your bank login credentials to complete the verification step and proceed with the bank payment using Link.
Depending on the business, you may also have the option to complete the verification step through micro-deposits instead. Micro-deposits are small deposits into your account that contain a unique code within the statement descriptor. This code is then used to complete the verification step. Note that this process can take between 1-3 business days, as it can take some time before the micro-deposits posts to your account
**Link Account**
You can also complete verification for your bank account directly from your Link account:
1. From the [Wallets](https://app.link.com/wallet) section of your Link account, select the bank account with the Verify badge.
1. Click Verify account and follow the on-screen steps to enter your bank login credentials to complete the verification step.
1. Once completed, the verify badge will be removed from the payment method indicating that this is now ready for use with Link.
### **Why do I see a duplicate entry after verifying my bank account?**
Depending on the banking institution and its technical setup, you may see a duplicated payment method entry appear for the bank account after you’ve completed the verification process. The bank account entry without the verify badge indicates that the verification step is already complete, and you can simply delete the other entry with the verify tag still visible by removing that account from the wallet section.
You’ll continue to be able to use the remaining verified bank account entry as an available payment method for your Link account.
### **Why is my bank account not verifying?**
In order for the bank account to verify, the exact same bank account must be selected. When completing the verification steps, please ensure that you’re selecting the correct banking institution, account type, and banking details requiring verification.
