# Verifying your identity for crypto onramp

Before you can purchase cryptocurrency or stablecoins using Link, you will need to complete some level of identity verification to fulfill our know-your-customer (KYC) requirements. Requirements for KYC depend on your location and purchasing amount.
## What information is needed
In the US, you may be able to fulfill the verification requirement using keyed-in information alone. We may request an ID and selfie verification from you in future. In all other regions, you will be required to provide the keyed-in information in addition to the ID upload.
What you may need to provide:
* **Keyed-in information:** Your legal name, date of birth, Social Security Number (US only) and residential address.
* **ID verification:** A valid government-issued photo ID, such as a driver’s license, passport, or national identity card.
Make sure the personal information you enter matches the information on your identity document exactly.
## My keyed-in verification was unsuccessful
**If you are in the US and your keyed-in information failed**, you will be able to retry the verification check. We validate your SSN and personal information (that is, full name, date of birth, and address) against global databases. There is currently no manual review process for this requirement so make sure that you have entered your details correctly.
## My document verification was unsuccesful
**If your document verification failed,** make sure that you're using a valid government issued ID and that the information you entered matches the document exactly.

## I’ve reached the maximum number of attempts
If you’re unable to retry the verification process, you’ve reached the maximum number of verification attempts and unfortunately we are unable to onboard you to purchase cryptocurrency through Link.
