# What happens if my bank account payment fails?

If your initial bank payment attempt fails, we'll automatically retry the payment again to avoid any interruptions to your purchase. Before doing so, we take a number of measures to help minimize the chance of a retry attempt failure, such as:
* Only attempting retries when the account is most likely to have funds
* Limiting to two retry attempts
If you have a backup payment method, we'll attempt the primary payment method up to two times before charging the backup payment method. You may see the charge from the backup payment method appear a few weeks later due to the attempts made on the primary payment method.
While we do our best to prevent overdraft or insufficient fund fees from being assessed by banking institutions, we recommend making sure that your bank account maintains a sufficient balance prior to using it as your preferred payment method for a successful checkout experience.
